Walsh Engineering & Surveying, Inc. is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead the office into the next decade. We are a staff of highly skilled and motivated civil engineers, surveyors, designers and drafters planning to double in size over the next few years. We specialize in all types of residential and commercial land development. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Current registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the state of California 
  • Minimum 10 years of Professional Civil Engineering land development experience in the local area 
  • Fully experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D 
  • Fully knowledgeable of all storm water regulations
  • Must be highly skilled in grading, storm drain and utility design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide clear direction to junior engineers and CAD team members
  • Must communicate well with Mr. Walsh

The Assistant Engineer will work on various civil infrastructure projects. Under the supervision of other Engineers, this person will perform engineering analysis and design on small- to medium-sized projects and tasks.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering 
  • Up to 1 year of Civil Design experience (this can be from internships, co-op programs, or paid work experience)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of engineering calculations and designs
  • Development of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Preparation of field/office reports 
  • Works in a team setting
  • Office and Field Work
  • Assists Senior Civil Engineers in managing design tasks
  • Meets client quality, schedule, and budget expectations
  • Drafting (utilizing Civil 3D)
  • Utility layout
  • Stormwater hydrology reports

Duties:

  • Perform Field Surveying to resolve boundaries, topographic mapping and construction staking.
  • Prepare deeds, plats and legal descriptions.
  • Produce mapping, including, topography, Record of Surveys, Corner Records, Parcel Maps, Subdivision Maps, ALTA’s, and plats
  • Support Senior Surveyor with forms and applications, submittals for approval.
  • Support efforts in conventional aspects of land surveying, including map research & analysis, title reports, deed & easement research, and utility research.
  • Provide technical surveying guidance and support for CAD and other surveying technical services as required in support of specific projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date records and databases.
  • Support engineering disciplines with detailed drawing support for design projects.
  • Review digital survey information, field notes and sketches to determine what the information is indicating and what approach needs to be taken to create a comprehensive plan.
  • Maintain, condition, and adjustment of surveying equipment.
  • Execute the work in a timely fashion in support of the project design or construction.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of land surveying experience with a current California LSIT (LS preferred)
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and SurveyPro
  • Must have experience in all phases of Field Surveying and Mapping
  • Must have the ability to adhere to specific company policies and procedures

Civil Engineering Designer (a Mid-Level Engineer role) will work on various land development projects. Under the supervision of Project Managers, this person will perform engineering analysis and design on small to medium sized projects and tasks.

 

The Civil Engineering Designer must have the following qualifications:

  • S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Must be in Civil Engineering)
  • 2+ years of civil design experience (this can be from internships, co-op programs, or paid work experience)
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Heavy experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with other drainage and stormwater programs such as SDHM and Civil D is preferred

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparation of lot layouts, preliminary grading plans, and tentative parcel maps
  • Preparation of grading and improvement plans under the supervision of Project Managers
  • Assists Project Managers with grading design, road elevation design, and sewer and water layout
  • High production drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Preparation of drainage studies and stormwater reports under the supervision of Project Managers
